Irina and I were looking for ways to effectively help Ukraine and those fleeing the war. On more than one TV network, we saw World Central Kitchen in action at the Polish border and we were impressed. They also get a great rating on Charity Navigator.

Microfinance Loans
Microfinance is a way to help people help themselves by making small business loans. I periodically make a few small loans, typically $25 each, via Kiva, which was recommended by a friend and has a very high rating on Charity Navigator.
Black Lives Matter
It took me a while to get it, but I now believe that if you are not anti-racist, then you are racist. As an engineer, it didn't seem logical at first. But the lack of progress over the past 400 years tells us that we have to ramp up our efforts. Perhaps Bob Dylan said it best, "How many times can a man turn his head, pretending he just doesn't see".
